The life of the Lombard artist Giovanni Agostino da Lodi has been recently reconstructed by scholars, and his oeuvre chiefly comprises paintings previously attributed to an artist known as Pseudo-Boccaccino, or Boccaccio Boccaccino of Cremona. Mainly active in Lombardy and the Veneto, Lodi’s works exhibit the inspiration of Leonardo’s works in Milan, Venetian colore, and Dürer, whose works were in circulation in Northern Italy in this period. Lodi was also an exceptionally accomplished draftsman.
