Trophime Bigot, also known as the Candlelight Master, is first recorded in Provence, and then later worked in Rome. His moniker derives from his embrace of Caravaggesque tenebrism, and his particular use of candlelight to convey this effect. He later returned to France, where he adopted a more conventional style.
