Bernardino Zenale was a Lombard painter and architect, active chiefly in Milan. Initially, Zenale was influenced by Ferrarese painters like Ercole de’ Roberti, but around 1500, the impact of Leonardo, then working in Milan, can be felt in his work. From 1513 Zenale focused mainly on architecture. In 1519 he was elected architect of the Milan Cathedral, as well as writing a treatise on the theory of perspective.
