Born in 1937 in Southampton, Allen Jones is a leading painter, sculptor, and lithographer of the English Pop Movement which rose to prominence in the 1960s. Known for his controversial depiction of women in his work, Jones conveys women through the lens of our culture – often in sexually exploitative positions with sexual imagery inspired by commercialized pop culture. Despite being met with much criticism and pushback throughout his career, Jones has held major solo exhibitions and impressive success selling his work.
